Numbers

24. It's not even my birthday but I feel compelled to mash away a quick post for some reason so here goes.

I met a kid on the spectrum (ASD) last week at the clinic, our interaction was limited in more ways than one. He was pretty quick at math, which was apparent when upon our mutual introduction he asked, I guess as part of a ritual, how old I was. It must be pretty self-centered, that the point of relaying all this was just to illustrate how striking I found it then that I was unable to provide my age near-instantaneously, and ended up giving him the wrong age in fact, which he then used to somewhat proudly calculate my year of birth.

There's an interesting phenomenon (or rather formal thought disorder) known as derailment/knight's move thinking amongst other terms, where it becomes difficult to follow the patient as he jumps seemingly with the loosest of associations between one topic to the next, and my undisciplined writing is very much similar to that, an attempt to write down somethings while not being arsed to connect the dots, not right now at least.

7 days to go till finals, and a couple of months after that till the MBBS, too short yet too long, made acutely aware of just how much time I have to remain within this bubble.
